Such a lovely, lovely post, Katie. I’m so glad you directed me to it. I am going to re-read it a few more times and take some notes! I’ve found a few new books to read here also (Lordy). Your dialogue as the oak is so touching. We learn more about the sentience of the earth with each passing year and I believe it is arrogance that has kept us believing we are the only intelligent creatures. “How do you want me to love you?” What a gorgeous question. I’m going to be carrying that one with me.

Thank you so much. I hear you on more books to read! Do check out Martin Shaw too if you haven’t already.

Thank you for your description of God's love for all His creation. His Love energizes the smallest creature or plant. I appreciated being reminded to keep looking in wonder all around me. I love the verse in Psalm 33 about God making all the host of heaven by the breath of His mouth!

You’re very welcome. It’s really amazing to read what they’re discovering about plants and animals and the intricacies of how they are made.

Psychedelic experience of a post. Reminds me of Huxley’s Doors of Perception.

Thanks. Years ago a writing teacher thought my poem was written from being on LSD! Funny comment.

Wonderful writing. My favorite line, "There’s a chainsaw in her eyes."

I've been considering the training with Kingsnorth et. al. It's pricey. In your opinion, was it worth it?

Kingsnorth himself is very generous and drew wonderful things out of me.

This is beautiful Katie. As an adult I became fascinated with gardening. There was a house that had burned dow, across the street, from a rental we were staying in. There were two rose bushes that survived. I figured if they survived a fire, they could survive my attempt at growing them. I read up and transplanted them. I became very conscious of the variety of plants and enjoyed visiting nurseries and reading about them. We have had two 80ft oak trees that have fallen behind our property. The roots had rotted and on two separate windy days the trees fell over like a domino. It was heartbreaking. We had fewer owls and fewer orioles. The space were they had been is very noticeable. Like as sad memory.

My dad is a retired minister. He told me about missionaries that reach out to groups of people in isolated places. Something that happens frequently is that they quickly embrace Christianity. It’s because they have already seen God through creation.

So glad you rescued those rose bushes. Bruce is the gardener, though I think about how cool it would be to put flowers all over this place. I'm so sorry to hear about those oak trees. It is heartbreaking when they fall. And owls and orioles not coming by is a sad thing.

So very cool on missionaries finding that people groups embrace Christianity because they have seen God through creation...Even simple butterflies tell us about the resurrection.

WOW, Katie. Just "WOW!" Like Tolkien's living trees in "Lord of the Rings." Like Cat Steven's "King of Trees." Like Isaiah's "trees of the field [that] clap their hands!"
